Summer is going pretty well so far. We've had a few glitches with our house though. The short versions is that I started to finish the back wall of the office/entry way. I decided to tear out the cupboards and start from scratch in order to make better use of the space. When we took them out, which was quite a project in itself, we discovered that there was moisture leaking in near the ceiling. Not good at all. So what was supposed to be cupboard removal and fresh paint turned into tearing out sheet rock, re-installing fresh sheet rock, taping, mudding, sanding and painting....on both the ceiling and the wall. But all I have left now is to put on a second coat of paint and then I can move the desk from downstairs. It's been quite a process to finish this room but the end is in sight. We'll still need to put on new trim and finish the benches we made, but other than that I'm hoping it's usable again by tomorrow.
.
Glitch number two concerned the downstairs bathroom. If you remember, we completely gutted it last year. We had it all the way down to the cement walls and even tore up the concrete floor to move the plumbing and then completely rebuilt it. Over the past few months, We've been having issues with the shower not draining so the plumber came back to check it out a couple weeks ago. He ended up having to tear up the tile and concrete and dig a couple feet down into the floor. The entire bathroom was a mess! But he found where the pipes hadn't been connected at the right spot to begin with and then also the biggest pipe was full of sand. So we were down to one bathroom again for all 8 of us. It's all back together now. The pipes/drains are working (as far as I know), the cement is back in, the tile and grout are down and he's here today re-installing the toilet. I'm hoping for a working downstairs bathroom by the end of the day.
.
Between all of that and the significant chunk of money for pool passes, I think I'll be on another spending freeze for the rest of the summer :)
