You Put a Sweet Tart Where?

Right in the middle of making supper tonight, Sophia came screaming into the kitchen. The story I finally pieced together from Sophia and her siblings was that she had somehow gotten a sweet tart candy stuck up her nose.

I got a flashlight and tweezers while Steve continued to flip pancakes. Even with tweezers, the candy was so far up there I couldn't get it out. I tried having her blow her nose and still nothing was coming out. Because she continued to scream, presumably because the candy burned inside her nose, I made the executive decision to run her to the ER to get it out. With six kids, It's definitely not our first 'something-up-the-nose' ER visit. And that's not even counting all the things we've managed to pull out of our kids without a doctor's intervention!

I grabbed my purse, phone and her insurance card, buckled her in and took Taylor with us. Steve continued to calmly flip pancakes.

Just as I was backing down the driveway, Sophia sneezed. "Did anything come out?" I asked.

Nope.

I kept backing up. I heard more sneezing from the back seat. "Anything?"

Nope.

Finally after sneeze number seven, I hear Taylor yell, "It's out!" I look back just in time to see Sophia holding a partially dissolved orange sweet tart in her hand, which she promptly put in her mouth and ate!

I pulled back into the garage and we went inside to finish supper. Steve was still flipping pancakes ;-)
